Chris Matthews absolutely goes OFF on McCain-Palin surrogate, Nancy Pfotenhauer. Wow. That was quite amusing. On the other hand, at this point, having heard her "speak" and "answer questions", the fact she doesn't understand the role of the vice president is soooo not important to me. Her convention speech confirmed her as merely one more culture warrior. I mean, she basically channelled Pat Buchanan in '92, right?
In fact, the only time she speaks in, well, a form that is sort of coherent, is when she is swinging her Culture War Cudgel by performing one of the following rhetorical acts:
(1) encouraging fear and resentment of the Other;
(2) telling "good ordinary folks" to remain ever vigilant, joining together to resist and oppose the Other; or
(3) dividing the American population between those who are authentic ["real Americans"] and inauthentic [the East Coast, cities, suburbs, minority-group members, educated people, intellectuals, the Reality Based Community, free-thinkers, the Mainstream Media, homosexuals, uh, have I forgotten anyone?...]
